Forest OPTIONS Day Support Center

A program of DePaul Community Resources, OPTIONS (Opening People To Individual Opportunities in a Network of Support) offers day support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The activities at OPTIONS include a variety of individualized and group projects which are both center and community-based.



The goals of the OPTIONS program are to:

• Develop self-esteem and self-worth;
• Increase social, recreational and leisure activity levels;
• Increase integration into the community;
• Teach individuals effective ways to interact in their environment;
• Provide volunteer service opportunities to enhance positive community impact.

Center-Based Activities

Every month brings new opportunities to OPTIONS’ participants. Activities that take place at the center include:

• Painting, sculpture and other art classes;
• Independent living skill instruction;
• Personal fitness and hygiene activities;
• Relationship building activities;
• Social events and celebrations.

Community Service

OPTIONS’ clients also participate in numerous community service projects throughout the year including:

• Delivering meals for Meals-on-Wheels;
• Building for Habitat for Humanity;
• Reading to children at local daycare centers;
• Volunteering at local churches and elementary schools.
